
Posted 11 months ago with 13 NotesLeonardo da Vinci’s studies in the Codex on the Flight of Birds (ca. 1490-1505) inspired his designs for flying machines. Although the machines failed, Leonardo made landmark discoveries about center of gravity and air currents by observing how birds stay aloft without flapping their wings. Left-handed and believed to be dyslexic, Leonardo wrote his notes backwards, in mirror image, which kept the ink from smudging as his hand dragged across the page.
